Our Aim

The aim of the group is to promote the study of art and culture through education. Traditionally in Islamic cultures various art forms have been used as a medium of self discovery and social integration. We believe that the study of art and material culture transcends the ethnic, linguistic and religious division that plagues the modern world.

Objectives

  • Raise awareness of the role that Islamic arts have played in social harmony and cohesion, in particular reference to inter-faith and inter-cultural activities.
  • To hold workshops, exhibitions and other public events on a range of issues connecting Islamic heritage, culture and arts.
  • To engage with mainstream services to support the delivery of services that are sensitive and appropriate for Muslim communities.
  • To work in close partnership with the statutory and voluntary sector.

  • It is important to remember that the beauty of form, pattern such as craft of geometry and colour as manifested in Islamic and other Arts is not just aesthetically pleasing, but representative of a more profound universal order, and one of them is Islamic calligraphy which is a visible expression of the highest art of all that links with the spiritual world and is elegantly proportioned script that is beautiful and unsurpassable

Calligraphy is known as beautiful handwriting and in Arabic it also means the art of pen and geometry of the spirit. It is an artistic tradition of extraordinary beauty, richness and inspiration.

The first revelation of the Quran inspired Muslim artist to be creative and expose to this penmanship as a form of communication between spiritual and artistic identity.
